Stacked Wood and Acoustic Device
First price in the art competition for the state guest and federeal government reception building at the future airport of Berlin
The idea is based on the theme of the surrounding pine grove. The grove is converted to a contemporary
diorama alike an abandoned expedition or study site. The stack of wood is an energetic concentrate of the forest. The tales of the annual rings form a condensed archive. The microphone, which is directed at the stack, picks up sound waves. The sound is digitally transformed and replayed inside the building. The installation overcomes the architectural barrier between inside and outside and reproduce the pine grove acoustically inside the airport.
